 Our Story So Far…..

Covid 19 Update June 2020

Kala is looking forward to welcoming clients back.  Things will be a little different for a while due to Covid 19.  But be rest assured that guidelines have been put in place to keep staff and clients safe.

Kala has undertaken courses in relation to Covid 19 PPE and salon cleanliness and she is happy to announce that the salon has been awarded the status of being ‘Covid Aware’ by the Good Salon Guide.  This based on our Risk Assessment and protocols put in place to keep everyone safe.

The salon protocol has been created and implemented by observing what fellow stylists in other countries who have already opened.  This may change when the Government provides our industry with guidelines, but she thinks she has covered all the basis.

Salon Covid 19 Protocol:

  1. If you experience any of the COVID 19 Symptoms: Temperature, Cough, Loss of Taste DO NOT COME TO THE SALON
  2. Clients must arrive on time for appointments, please do not be late or early
  3. Do not bring anyone else to the appointment with you
  4. Clients will be asked to wear a mask to the salon and for the period of their service
  5. No Cash payments only Card or BACS
  6. No under 16 to the salon, this is because they have to be accompanied by an adult or a gaurdian
  7. We ask that you wait by the main door, until invited in.  This is to make sure the salon has been sanitized
  8. Clients will be asked to sanitize with the automatic dispenser found in the main entrance before entering the salon and when leaving
  9. There will be no dry cuts, every client must have there hair washed
  10. Staff will wear a face mask and visor
  11. Freshly Clean and disposable gowns ect will be used  for each client
  12. A 15 minute clean down time between each clients will be used to ensure the salon is sanitized between clients
  13. No food or drink to be consumed on the premises
  14. A plastic screen has been implemented at the reception desk
  15. We ask that you refrain from using your phone while having a cut, phones may be used while a colour is processing
  16. Paper towel dispenser in the toilet and hand wash
  17. Kala will not be answering the phone while working on a client, so we ask that you leave a message and she will get back to you, during the clean down period if time permits

The added protocols will mean that the salon will be functioning  differently and the capacity will be down by 50%.  There will no longer be late nights on a Thursday and Friday, but there will still be Saturday for clients working Monday to Friday.  But all this considered it does mean it is going to be a mammoth task of getting every one in so please be patient, we will get there.

The salon will still need to survive financially.  Kala has always tried to keep her prices down and since opening 5 years ago, only a number of services have had an increase.  Kala has had to review a number of these due to the current climate.  In addition, services have been added, inorder to enable clients to add a little sparkle, but at a cost that suits you.  Please check out the services page you may discover a new service.

Lets stay safe and sensible and fight this terrible virus.

The Salon

The salon opened its doors on the 29th April 2016, with literally the paint wet.

There was an amazing opening party with Honey Fungus playing acoustic in the outdoor area, lots of bubbles, Cup Cakes and plenty of friends and clients.

The renovation work within the salon was done on a budget, with the help of friends and family only and in a big big rush as clients were knocking at the door.

Kala offers a bespoke private experience within her french styled boutique salon.  Its the VIP experience.

The salon is very proud to display their 5 Star Rating Awarded by the Good Salon Guide.

Kala chose to use Paul Mitchell Styling and Colouring Products as she loves the predictability and flexibility of the colours and the luxury of the styling products.  She also loves the fact that none of the products are tested on animals.

We also retail and use Celeb Luxury Fashion Colour Range, which are also cruelty free and the Goldwell Revive Colour Conditioners which help to keep your colours fresh.

In addition Guy Tangs My Identity range and a bespoke mix of Goldwell.
